May 8–11, 2026 — The heart of the Scenic City: riverfront views, live music, museums, and a walkable historic core.
The downtown living room. Open green space with shaded seating, water features, and a permanent stage. Home to the Nightfall concert series every Friday night May–September — free, all-ages, and consistently the best weekly event downtown.
Chattanooga's crown jewel since 1921. A beautifully restored 1,700-seat theatre hosting touring Broadway shows, concerts, comedians, and film screenings. The ornate interior alone is worth the ticket price.
A 750-seat venue inside Memorial Auditorium — smaller and more intimate than the Tivoli, with great acoustics. Hosts everything from indie bands to stand-up comedy and community events.
Tennessee's only craft distillery making whiskey under the 100-year-old law they helped change. Tours and tastings run Wednesday–Sunday. The Experimental single-batch releases are only available on-site.
The barrel-vaulted lobby bar inside Chattanooga's most storied hotel. A 1920s speakeasy vibe with craft cocktails, live piano on select nights, and one of the best old-fashioned drinks in town.
Downtown staple for Memphis-style dry-rub ribs, pulled pork, and smoked wings. Two blocks from the Aquarium. Solid group-dinner option after a day of sightseeing.
Scratch-made biscuits, gravy flights, and community-style tables. The Squawking Goat (biscuit with fried chicken, goat cheese, and pepper jelly) is the signature move. Lines form early on weekends.
The Tennessee River is downtown's best amenity. Ross's Landing features a wide pier, public art, and green space. The Riverwalk stretches 13 miles along both banks — rent a bike or just walk. River Market happens here on Saturdays during season.
Perched on an 80-foot bluff overlooking the river, the Hunter spans three buildings across three centuries of architecture. The collection covers colonial portraits through contemporary works. The river-view terrace alone makes the trip worthwhile.
Hands-on science and arts museum for kids. Rooftop play space, water exhibits, and maker workshops. Perfect rainy-day backup plan for families visiting downtown.
Downtown has several public parking garages — the easiest bets are on Chestnut Street (between 6th and 8th) and the Republic lot on Broad Street. Street parking is free after 6 PM weeknights and all day Sunday. The free electric shuttle runs a downtown loop daily and connects to the North Shore — it's the low-effort way to hop between neighborhoods without moving your car.
